Raphinha and Adeyemi lead Barcelona’s rout of Elche

Barcelona beat Elche 5-0 in the opening match of La Liga. Raphinha opened the scoring with a penalty and netted a second goal, while debutant Karim Adeyemi scored the 2-0. Fermín, Gordon and a second Fermín goal sealed the rout. Elche failed to score, showing little offensive presence.

Barça dominates from the first minute

Barcelona kicked off the season with a 5-0 rout of Elche at the Martínez Valero. The first goal came in the 8th minute when Brazilian captain Raphinha was fouled by Víctor Chust inside the box. Referee Quintero awarded a penalty without hesitation; Raphinha fired the shot with precision, sending it alongside the left post of Dituro. With the 1-0, Raphinha started his goal tally for the season and reached 76 goals with the Barça shirt, in his 178th match for the club. The goal also marked the beginning of his new season, after scoring 21 goals last season, a figure below the 34 of the 2024/25 campaign.

Adeyemi and Fermín widen the advantage

Minutes later, in his LaLiga debut with FC Barcelona, former Borussia Dortmund player Karim Adeyemi scored the 2-0, stealing the spotlight at halftime. The young forward, who joined the club after Ferran Torres’ departure, showed his ability to score in key moments. Later, striker Fermín added a third goal, followed by a goal from Gordon and another from Fermín, completing the rout with a 5-0 final.

Elche with no clear chances

The home side tried to respond, but their lack of presence in the forward line and Barcelona’s solid defence, led by goalkeeper Gerard Martn and full-back Joan Garca, prevented Elche from finding the net. Despite a few attempts, all were thwarted by the Barça defenders’ sharp attention. The match ended with Barça marking territory early and making it clear their dominance in the new campaign.
