Elche CF launches gender-valued policy to boost equality

Elche CF announced today a gender-valued policy aimed at balancing female representation across all areas, from coaching staff to administration. The measure, unveiled at the club's annual meeting, aims to position the side as a benchmark for equality in La Liga.

What does the new policy include?

The plan includes hiring at least two female professionals for the coaching staff next season, creating a scholarship program for young female players in the region, and publishing quarterly reports on gender distribution within the club. Additionally, 5 % of the marketing budget will be allocated to campaigns that raise the visibility of women in football.

Why is it timely now?

With the team sitting 15th in La Liga, 43 pts, 10W‑13D‑15L from 38 games and a recent form of DWLDL, Elche CF needs to reinforce its identity beyond the pitch. The initiative arrives while the club is 51 points behind leaders Barcelona, and seeks to forge a stronger bond with the local community and sponsors who value social responsibility.

How do players and management react?

Team captain Jorge Molina praised the move, saying “equal opportunities strengthen the group”. Assistant coach María López added that more women on the technical staff will bring fresh tactical perspectives. President Juan Serrano declared the project “an investment in the club’s and city’s future”.

What’s next for Elche CF?

The club will roll out the plan from August 1, with the first female hire expected by September 15. The first equality reports will be released in December, allowing fans to track progress. Meanwhile, the squad remains focused on climbing the table, aiming to move away from relegation danger and edge closer to the goal of staying in La Liga.
