Marc Aguado has established himself as the engine in the midfield for Elche CF this season. The young midfielder has been an indispensable workhorse since day one, shining with his effort and directly contributing to points earned. His performance has been one of the positive stories at the start of the campaign.
The franjiverde club signed Aguado in the summer transfer window to strengthen their core. The 24-year-old player arrived from SD Huesca on a four-year contract. His adaptation was immediate, earning a starting spot thanks to his covering ability and unwavering commitment in every match.
Marc Aguado brings a defensive intensity that Elche CF needed. He is not a creative midfielder, but a tireless ball-winner who cuts out opposition plays and starts the offensive transition. His reading of the game and anticipation allow him to average over five ball recoveries per match. These interventions are vital for a team looking to be solid and dangerous on the counter-attack.
His work often goes unnoticed in goal or assist statistics, but it is essential for the collective functioning. The manager values his tactical discipline and his ability to balance the midfield. His arrival has allowed other more offensively-minded players to operate with greater freedom, knowing they have Aguado covering for them.
The Elche CF squad has several central midfielders, but Aguado's profile is unique. He has become the first defensive pivot, sometimes partnering with Omar Mascarell or John Nwankwo. This internal competition is positive and has raised the level of the unit. Last season, the team finished in fourteenth place in LaLiga, fighting for survival until the end.
With Aguado in the starting eleven, the team shows a better defensive structure in the medium press. His youth and energy are an asset for a unit that, according to data from our stats section, has improved its numbers in duels won in the central zone. His signing addresses a specific need identified by the technical area after analyzing the previous campaign.
Marc Aguado's form is great news for the busy schedule of matches ahead. Elche CF faces a series of key fixtures in the coming weeks, including direct duels against rivals in the lower-middle part of the table. Maintaining his physical and concentration levels will be decisive.
Aguado's consistency in midfield provides a foundation of confidence for the whole team. If he continues with this regularity, he is shaping up to be one of the most successful signings of the last transfer window.
The next major test comes this weekend. Elche CF visits a difficult ground where defensive solidity will be most important. With Aguado in fine form, the chances of securing a good result increase. His development is a topic to watch closely for the heart of the franjiverde support.
