Elche CF have strengthened their attack with the long-term signing of forward Fer Niño, who has put pen to paper on a contract with the club running until June 2030. The deal has been agreed with Burgos CF for the 25-year-old striker.
Fernando Niño Rodríguez, born in Rota, Cádiz, came through the youth ranks at Villarreal CF and went on to make his first-team debut in competitions including LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Europa League. He was part of the squad that won the Europa League in 2021 by defeating Manchester United. After a loan spell at RCD Mallorca, he moved to Burgos CF, where he established himself as a key forward in the Segunda División thanks to his goal-scoring ability, spatial intelligence and strong work rate.
The centre-forward brings presence in the box, mobility and physical power, along with good back-to-goal play and a sharp finishing instinct. His arrival adds resources and depth to an attacking line seeking greater effectiveness. The franjiverde team currently sits 18th in LaLiga with five points from seven games, and their next fixture is at home to Celta Vigo on October 11th.
Niño has already shown his worth in the opening weeks, leading the team's scoring charts this season with five goals in seven appearances, including a brace in the 1-3 win over Espanyol. His permanent signing represents a vote of confidence in the Ilicitano project for the new season in the top flight.
