Elche CF, after the departure of Portuguese André da Silva and the dismissal of Rafa Mir, will be forced to rebuild its attack for the upcoming season, in which it will again compete in La Liga. The club will have to go to the market with the priority of signing reliable strikers to cover the departures of both attackers, who scored 18 goals, ten from the Portuguese and eight from the Murcian, during the last championship. Da Silva, one of the entity's big bets, signed last summer for a year. He participated in 31 games and was one of the most used players by then-coach Eder Sarabia. After the season ended, Da Silva did not wait for Elche's offer and decided to sign with Porto, one of the big clubs in his country, after several years of traveling through European teams. Mir's case is different, as the club waited to know the sentence of the Provincial Court of Valencia, which finally condemned the striker to eight and a half years in prison for a crime of sexual assault and another of injuries, to unilaterally rescind both the transfer agreement and the labor contract of the Murcian. Da Silva and Mir were the two most used attackers by Sarabia, surpassing in participation and goals the Spanish-Uruguayan Álvaro Rodríguez, author of seven goals and the only one who, for now, continues in the entity with two more years of contract. Mir, a key piece in Elche's good start, participated in 27 games, 21 as a starter, but disappeared from the lineups in the last month due to muscle problems. His judicial situation ended up conditioning his protagonism in the final stretch of the season and transferred the informative focus from the playing field to the courts, a situation with which the club did not feel comfortable, despite claiming repeated innocence of the player. In addition to Álvaro Rodríguez, Elche has signed Argentine striker Abiel Osorio since the last winter market, who has played on loan at Defensa y Justicia in his country during the last months, although his performance is an unknown after chaining several injuries. The Argentine will have to convince new coach Martín Anselmi that he can be the striker his team needs. Another option is to adapt Chilean Lucas Cepeda, incorporated into the club in the last market, to positions closer to the goal, although his natural habitat is the band or the midfield. Youngsters Adam Boayar and Ali Houary, who have already debuted with the first team, will also have the opportunity to earn a place in the squad during the preseason, although it is likely that they will be loaned out. Elche CF needs to find the formula to strengthen its attack and compete in the top category. The entity is working to find the necessary reinforcements for the next season. The transfer market is open and Elche CF is ready to make its moves. The preseason is about to begin and the team needs to be ready to compete in La Liga. Elche CF has a big challenge ahead, but with the right reinforcements, it can aspire to great things.
