Elche CF assures that the redevelopment of the Martínez Valero area will not disrupt matchday access or parking. Mayor Pablo Ruz, together with contractor Pavasal, announced phased works to minimise inconvenience, while the club remains in La Liga (15th, 43 pts, 10W‑13D‑15L, recent form DWLDL).
What does the construction mean for the stadium?
The €3.2 million upgrade includes widening Martínez Valero Avenue to four lanes and adding two roundabouts to regulate traffic. Parking lots will be preserved, ensuring fans can reach the stadium without hassle. The zone will also become a green corridor, with the possibility of planting a tree every 1.5 metres, as the councilor explained.
Why is the project important for Elche CF?
The club, which has scored 49 goals and conceded 57 (‑8 goal difference) this season, needs an environment that encourages crowd attendance and supporter comfort. Expanded sidewalks and continuous planting beds will create a more pleasant experience for visitors arriving from the north, bus stops or Francisca García Park. A ten‑metre pedestrian promenade on José Esquitino Avenue will further reinforce the ecological character of the area.
What comes after the initial phase?
After installing perimeter fencing and preparing the ground, work will move to building a 26‑metre‑wide platform along 375 metres of Martínez Valero Avenue. José Esquitino Avenue will receive a similar 410‑metre platform. Both streets will feature two two‑lane carriageways, central medians and sidewalks about six metres wide, ready to host future trees such as robust tiwanas and shade‑giving banana palms.
